Brandon Costa Joins Baseball Staff

WISE - - Head Baseball Coach Hank Banner announced the addition of Brandon Costa to his staff on Friday. Costa will serve as the program's recruiting coordinator and hitting instructor effective immediately. The coach comes to UVa-Wise after most recently serving as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Radford University where he helped the Highlanders to the Big South Tournament Championship last spring.

A native of North Wales, Pa., Costa was part of the 2013 Concord University team that set a school record for wins with 36. That year, the catcher aided Concord to the regular season Mountain East Conference crown.

He began his coaching career in 2014 where he served as the Head Coach of the CrabFest All-American 11U squad before becoming a catching coach and camp coordinator at Concord University.

Costa then moved on to the University of Charleston where he served as the program's recruiting coordinator and assistant coach before his stint at Radford.

"We are extremely happy to have someone with Brandon's experience and talent joining our staff," stated Banner. "In addition to his recruiting and hitting instruction, we feel Brandon will have a positive impact on the defensive work of our catchers."

Costa obtained a bachelor's degree in recreation and tourism management before adding a master's degree in strategic leadership from the University of Charleston.

UVa-Wise returns 23 players from last spring, the team will begin fall practice on Sept. 4.
