ROME, ITALY - The NC State men's basketball team closed its foreign trip to Italy on Thursday night with a 90-46 win over Stella Azzurra.
The game was called in the fourth quarter after players from both teams were slipping on the playing surface. The temperature in Rome on Thursday reached 100 degrees and the gym the two teams were playing in did not have air conditioning which led to a build up of condensation on the floor.
NC State led 50-31 at halftime as 11 different Pack players scored in the opening 20 minutes. NC State outscored Stella Azzurra, 38-15, in the third quarter to break the game open. The game was called one minute into the fourth quarter because of court conditions.
NC State had a balanced offensive attack in the win as 13 of the 14 players scored in the win. Eleven of the players had at least five points as the Pack was well on its win to a 100-point outing when the game was called.
Thursday night's win was the final game in Italy for the Pack in its 10-day tour. NC State will spend Friday seeing a few more sites in Rome before departing Saturday morning to return to Raleigh.
