Debo Named Freshman All-American by Baseball America

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State's Brad Debo has been named a Freshman All-American by Baseball America, announced Monday by the organization. The Wolfpack standout garners a spot on the second team at designated hitter.

The award comes following a stellar rookie season for Debo, as he was also tabbed a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American, Third Team All-ACC and All-ACC Freshman Team selection.

Debo led NC State with a .335 batting average, ranking among the top 20 for an individual in the ACC and the second highest for a freshman. He collected 72 hits, the second most on the team and drove in 43 runs, third most on the squad.

Hailing from nearly Durham, N.C., Debo hit 18 doubles in his first season on campus and scored 30 runs. He also hit for power with four home runs, three triples and a .493 slugging percentage. Debo ended the year with a .387 on-base percentage, the best on the Wolfpack among regular starters.

He started 54 of the 56 games he played, splitting time between designated hitter and catcher. Debo led NC State with 22 multi-hit games, including seven three-hit performances and a four-hit game. Additionally, he logged 10 games with multi-RBIs.

Debo becomes the first Wolfpack player to garner Baseball America Freshman All-America honors since 2015 when Brian Brown earned the accolade.
