#Pack9 Summer League Update, Shepard Named CPL All-Star


RALEIGH, N.C. – Fourteen NC State baseball players are participating in various summer leagues around the country. Three players are competing in the prestigious Cape Cod, seven are in action in the Coastal Plain and one each in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball, Northwoods, Prospect and Valley Baseball Leagues.
 
Shane Shepard has turned in a stellar summer with the Wilson Tobs of the Coastal Plain League and was recently named a CPL All-Star. The native of Wilmington, N.C., is tied for the team lead in home runs and was selected to participate in the CPL Home Run Derby, which will be held Sunday, July 9 in Holly Springs, N.C., at the North Main Athletic Complex at 7 p.m.
 
The all-star game will be Monday, July 10 at 7 p.m. at the same venue. Admission is free to the home run derby and tickets to Monday's all-star game are $6.
 
Cape Cod League
 
Brad Debo, Harwich Mariners
- Has appeared in 16 games for Harwich
- Owns 11 hits with six runs, seven walks, two doubles, a homer and five RBI
- Homered in the first game of the doubleheader against Wareham on June 25
 
Dalton Feeney, Falmouth Commodores
- Has appeared in three games on the mound, starting each contest
- Pitched 13.1 innings with a 2.70 ERA
- Struck out 13 batters this summer
- Threw five innings of no-hit ball against Wareham with four strikeouts
 
Brett Kinneman, Cotuit Kettleers
- Has appeared in 21 games for Cotuit
- Collected 17 hits with 14 runs, 14 walks, 10 RBI, three doubles, a triple and a homer
- Enjoyed one of his best performances against Hyannis on Jun. 29, as he was 3-for-4 with four runs, a home run, double and two RBI
- Has at least one hit in five of his last seven games
 
Coastal Plain League
 
Nolan Clenney, Morehead City Marlins
- Has appeared in five games on the mound
- Thrown 4.1 innings
- Struck out four batters
 
Jack Conley, Holly Springs Salamanders
- Has played in nine games with Holly Springs
- Notched eight hits to go along with a .286 batting average and a .382 on-base percentage
- Scored seven runs, collected four RBI and a double
- Tallied a hit in four of his last four games
 
Evan Edwards, High Point Toms
- Junior college transfer that will join the Wolfpack in the fall
- Appeared in 25 games this summer
- Notched 23 hits with seven doubles and three homers to compile a .295 batting average
- Scored 13 runs and collected nine RBI
- Owns a .500 slugging percentage with a .411 on-base percentage
 
Kent Klyman, Holly Springs Salamanders
- Has made five appearances on the mound with two starts
- Pitched 10.1 innings with 12 strikeouts
- Fanned five batters in 2.1 innings against Wilmington
 
Lawson McArthur, Gastonia Grizzlies
- Has played in 25 games for Gastonia
- Collected 15 hits with two doubles, a triple and a home run
- Scored 14 runs and knocked in four
- Logged seven stolen bases
- Recorded a hit in three of his last five games
 
Shane Shepard, Wilson Tobs
- Has appeared in 18 games, starting each contest
- Tallied 13 hits with four homers and two doubles
- Scored 13 runs and also logged 13 RBI
- Drawn 17 walks at the plate

Zach Usselman, Morehead City Marlins

- Struck out nine batters in a five-inning start against Wilmington

Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League
 
Mathieu Gauthier, Amsterdam Mohawks
- Made three appearances on the mound, starting each
- Logged a 3.24 ERA in 16.2 innings pitched
- Owns a perfect 3-0 record with wins in each game he's pitched
- Collected 14 strikeouts
 
Prospect League
 
Brady Gulakowski, Butler Blue Sox
- Played in 27 games
- Notched 28 hits with eight doubles, two homers and a triple
- Recorded a .286 batting average
- Scored 20 runs and has driven in 16
- Tallied nine multi-hit games with a pair of three-hit outings
 
Valley League
 
Dillon Cooper, Waynesboro Generals
- Has appeared in 13 games
- Collected six hits with four runs, three walks and an RBI
